1. I've already hired Vander to add more #%&*$# to the map. 250 more villags and towns and hundreds more campsites etc. And there is already a ton of stuff on the map, but it's a freaking huge map. Even with this new stuff there is space between them. This part of France was not all industrial.
And he's doing this with the current Mission Editor. All he's doing is adding stuff already available and making new blocks which will be incorporated into the new Career Map template. You guys don't understand how awesome our mission editor really is. It's capable of all kinds of stuff. If you have an inkling try to learn it.
And remember any time you add an object with a brain (i.e. AAA) you use RAM and we have limits on RAM usage. Remember my reccomendation to upgrade that some people got worked up about? This is one issue where old computers hurts what you with a better computer can see by default. And before you say have two different versions you must understand we have limited time and resources. This is coding resources I'm talking about, not placing crap on the map.
2. You guys get fixated on the front line and the trenches and want tons of crap blowing up and millions of troops running around. Again, this takes memory. Well, we already have artillery and flak bursts at the front lines. You want 3D craters and 3D trenches, that takes lots of polygons and not everyone has a super hot video card. But did you know ALL textures in ROF can be extracted and re-done? If you don't like how our trenches look make a new texture and if it's good we may adopt it. This is what our Mods On mode is about. We give you the ability to experiment built in. Very few seem to care about this though.
3. Trenches cannot be moved yet because these use a complicated coordinate system and until we have time to create a detailed Map making SDK it's not possible by users. Hell, we don't even have a map guy employed at the moment to make a map SDK. Our maps require the usage of several proprietary tools tool. I do hope to have an object SDK in the not too distant future, but then if we place too many unique objects we'll run out of memory. Again, see my comments about RAM.
4. We're working on Autumn textures. Here's a WIP sample. (see the above pic)
5. Some day I hope to build Paris, but that requires custom texture work on the ground and custom buildings to be made. It's on my long-term wishlist.
So, some things are already available to the public. Some of the complaining about how crappy our Map is (which it is not in my opinion) can be resolved by learning how to place objects in the ME. Show us your work, if it's awesome we can try to include it in our default map. So far, I only know of two people who have worked on this and I hired one of them.
