Le Contre Amiral Leigh Noyes se vit reprocher d'avoir fait évoluer son Task Group de manière trop répétitive dans une zone de surface trop faible dans le SE de Guadalcanal ce qui permit à l'I-19 de se positionner au mieux en vu de l'attendre

En plus il a fait d'une pierre deux coups puisqu'il a endommagé le cuirassé north carolina mais les dommages ici seront legers , 48 jours de réparation
