-> Boy, does a new rig help!

Wow.. I'm sitting here in stunned silence.
A few days ago, my new rig from XtremeGear arrived. This is my first foray into PCI Express and 64-bit CPUs. The old rig was essentially a P4 3.0GHz w/HyperThreading, w/1MB L2 cache, 1.5GB PC2700 RAM, UATA IDE hard drive, SB Audigy2 ZS, and a 256MB 8xAGP Radeon9800XT card. Running this rig, at no FSAA or AF, 1600x1200 resolution, I'd tend to get slowdowns, especially around airfields and areas of high ground force activity. Those areas could dip into single-digit FPS levels easily, but most of the time I'd be running around 25 FPS in 2D cockpit.
The new rig is an Athlon64 X2 4800+, 2GB PC3200 RAM, two SATA II 200GB hard drives in RAID 0, an X-FI XtremeMusic sound card, and two ATI CrossFire cards: the x1900xtx 512MB and x1900 CrossFire Edition 512MB.
The difference is amazing. My mouth hung open flying my first few flights tonight.
Before loading F4AF, I maxed out the Radeons. 14xFSAA, 16xAF.... everything as high as I could get it (with the exception of overclocking.. not gonna do that). I also maxed out all the detail levels in F4AF.
First shot was the Basic Handling TE (Balkans). Normal flight in 2D pit didn't drop below 40, except around the airfield, where it never dropped below 25.
Second shot was the Maverick training TE (Korea), which, at least in my mind, has always been the most taxing TE available. Even in the midst of all those tanks and troops, and with A/G radar and WPN MFDs viewed, I didn't go below 22 FPS!
I didn't know quite what to expect when choosing this rig.. but wow, am I ever happy about it, and just felt like sharing.
--> son ancienne cofig (rig) en ravirai + d'un déjà !!!
P4 3.0 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, Dell 2001FP, Radeon 9800XT, CH HOTAS, Aimsworth MFDs/ICP, X-Keys, Logitech G15/MX1000, TrackIR3 Pro w/Vector
