Hi guys, I am alive - but through sheer providence than anything else. Massive damage, very bad aftershocks now. Fatalities, witnessed a couple of bodies that had been pulled out of the buildings, many collapsed buildings, massive damage and fires everywhere.
I think so far myself, and my immediate family have been VERY lucky - I am pretty sure I have lost my car, considering the parking building it was in collapsed. But no injuries to myself or family.
I was on the 10th floor of a 11 story building, two accross from a collapsed building where there are confirmed fatalities. I was waiting for the elevator with two other guys, I went back to my desk, grabbed a file, came out and had pressed the button waiting for the elevator when it struck. Building felt like it was going to collapse, my brother and I rushed out, building visibly warped.
Still having severe aftershocks now, luckily, like the first one, home is still standing, still has power and phone (just like last time, but phone networks ARE congested, cellular calls are impossible), but today was grocery day (huh. lucky eh?). Aftershocks are harsh, not sure how much the house will hold up now, piles definately shifted, massive flooding in the streets, and I've done the windows up like it was the blitz (tape everywhere). Not fun.
Will keep you updated with the latest as it happens
