Recognition of the Focke-Wulf FW 190 Fighter. - 1943 New - Premier! The FW 190 was many Luftwaffe ace's favorite fighter: fast, heavily armed and maneuverable, with an outstanding roll rate. One of the highlights of this film is a mock dog fight between a captured 190 in RAF roundels and a P-47 Thunderbolt.
Recognition of the Junkers Ju 88 - 1943. New - Premier! Originally designed for the Luftwaffe as a fast ("schnell") medium bomber in the 1930s, the '88 ended up performing more roles than any other aircraft in World War 2, including bomber, dive bomber, night fighter, torpedo bomber, reconnaissance aircraft, heavy fighter and as a flying bomb late in the War.
Thunderbolt! Exclusive - Digitally restored with additional footage & stereo sound . " Thunderbolt!" chronicles the exploits of the P-47 Thunderbolt pilots of the 65th Fighter squadron, 57th Fighter Group. Based on the island of Corsica off the northwest coast of the Italian boot, the 57th FG flew from behind the enemy's flank. As part of "Operation Strangle," they continuously attacked highways, bridges, ammo dumps, railroads and just about anything that moved to choke off the flow of supplies to the Axis front line.
Bombers Over Africa - Remastered from a new archival copy. This is a rare look at early war US air operations in North Africa. B-25 and B-17 bombers of the 321st and 97th Bomb Groups going after Rommel's Afrika Corps in Tunisia.
The Capture U-505. Remastered for broadband streaming This film takes a memorable look at World War II advanced anti-submarine operations. In June, 1944, Task Force "Guadalcanal," commanded by Captain Daniel V. Gallery, composed of the escort aircraft carrier USS Guadalcanal (CVE-60), and five destroyer escorts under the Commander Frederick S. Hall were on station off the Cape Verde Islands, where code intercepts placed German U-Boats.
John Huston's "Let there be Light" 1943. New - Premier! Restored For the first time on film, Huston explored the diagnosis and treatment of what used to be called "battle fatigue" or "shell shock" among returning service men. This condition is now know as PTSD - post traumatic stress disorder. The film follows 75 returning U.S. soldiers who have sustained severe emotional trauma and depression while serving their country.
The Great Battle on the Volga (Stalingrad) New - Premier! This World War 2 documentary, released by the Soviets (with English narration) in 1962, is notable as much for what isn't shown as what is. There's extensive footage from both the Soviet Film Archives and captured German sources showing action on the Eastern Front, with an emphasis on the Battle of Stalingrad. This film is well worth watching for this unique documentary footage alone. On the other hand, virtually no mention is made of "Supreme Leader," Joseph Stalin - big news at the time! This is our first video from "The Former Soviet Union."
Mastering the Thompson Sub Machine Gun - Marksmanship Everything you need to know to become a crack short with a "Tommy Gun:" Blackening your sights using an open flame. Triangulating your sights for accuracy. Estimating range. Firing positions: Standing, kneeling, prone and seated. How to neutralize muzzle climb, even during extended bursts. See the Thompson used in a training field exercise. Firing at aircraft.
We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Alert! - don't miss the F-86 & B-58!
