"Just a wee update...no time to update the web site as I am away a lot these days.
We have still not built the beta yet for phase 2 - holdups being the sheer number of skins that need to be done as well as some additional campaign and QC features that will make it into the phase 2 release - but I will keep them as a surprise.
The Huns skins alone weigh in at 1Gb and I expect the Allied skins to bring the tally up to 1.4Gb worth of skins.....and only skins....
Other notable advances are Gun Jams (Thanks Andrew) and FM DM work by Pol and I have started on the installer for Phase 2 - Phase 2 will create a new install of OFF and will uninstall Phase1 (apart from aircraft).
The build will be in the order of 3 - 4 Gb all told unless I can compress certain files more.

Bon, pour l'instant, un résumé de ce que va offrir la Phase 2, mais bien sûr la liste va peut-être s'agrandir (par exemple les mitrailleuses qui s'enrayent)
"1) All fronts have been modeled from 1914 to 1918 and will change over time as historically accurately as possible. Towns and villages and the land become decimated over time - by 1918 Flanders is a foreign landscape. There are 12 frontal layouts modeled for this period with the possibility of adding more. Effectively OFF has 12 terrain sets - i.e. 12 sims in one.
2) Revised weather, clouds, haze, fog and high resolution sky graphics
3) Revised and improved scenery object textures with higher resolution templates, high resolution tree models etc.
4) Revised and improved Terrain textures - 7 seasonal flavours: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Autumn Light Snow, Winter, Winter Light Snow, Winter Medium Snow, Winter Full Snow.
5) Improved Weather generator: snow levels build up and thaw over time depending on the actual precipitation.
6) Improved Dynamic Campaign Engine with up to 30 squads per nation and a far more immersive interface. All data is as historically accurate as possible - when you join a squad you are at the correct field with the correct craft at that time and you will transfer , and receive craft upgrades as the squadron did historically. The Aces are assigned to the squadrons as they were historically and will die on the date that they did. A full duty roster of your squad is maintained - pilots get killed transfer in, go missing, or even on leave - you are assigned a wingman.
There are now a wider variety of mission types and they change over the years from recon, battery ranging to the more advanced ground attack missions later in the war as they did historically .
7) Aces now appear in the theatre with their correct historical craft and skins for the time. German Circus flights are to be seen with multiple aces and craft, with multiple Ace skins - quite a sight!.
8) Many Phase1 craft are being upgraded - better cockpits, better exteriors and of course better skins and cockpit textures.
9) The Skinners have put together over 1.2Gb of hi resolution 2048x2048 skins so far and the total increases daily.
10) We now have the interior canvas of the craft reflecting the exterior paint bleed through - and changes as per the craft skin - on aircraft as appropriate.
11) Improved instruments and real life reflections in the instrument glass
12) Revised FM - all craft have been updated where necessary.
13) Revised DM - an amazing amount of extra sounds and effects have been added to make this aspect far more immersive than Phase1. All craft have revised DM
14) A comprehensive line up of craft for Phase2 as mentioned in other pages on this site.
15) Comprehensive management of most all CFS3 settings via the Workshops.
16) Multiplayer is now built into OFF and the settings are stored.
17) Campaign missions can be played in Multiplayer
To sum up there are many more tweaks that have been incorporated into OFF phase2 and the above is merely the highlights.

Il y a des collines au loin, pas des terrils, donc pas le Nord, ce serait plutôt vers l'Est, ou alors tout à l'Ouest... le Boulonnais !

Vous savez s'il faut la phase 1 installée pour mettre le 2 ?
19/02/07 Late: File sizes for Phase2:
Phase 2 Main installation : 895Mb.
Phase 2 Skin pack : 1Gb
Phase 2 WW1 Video Pack : 530Mb
19/02/07 Current Status Beta Test Basically Complete
The Phase 2 beta testing is now essentially complete.
The Phase 2 Release build is now being built and tested for correct deployment on PC's.
Barring any last minute hiccups this means that release will most likely take place in the next few weeks.
